AI as a Speed Enhancer and Amplification

AI lowered the floor on "I made a thing." It didn't raise the ceiling on "I made a thing that matters."

I have been chewing on this for a while, and I want to make emphasis that this is a personal piece, not a hard truth. So lets get started.

The shortcut is real

I drew this in my notebook last week. Idea on the left, prototype on the right, a curved arrow labeled "AI" arcing over the top, jumping straight from one to the other. What used to take a week of mockups can now take an afternoon of prompts. What used to need a frontend developer is now a tool you talk to.

AI is a tool, not a taste maker

But here is what I keep coming back to. The model does not know what your product should feel like, it does not know which problem is worth solving, it does not know the difference between something true and something that just sounds confident. You bring all of that. The model just amplifies whatever you bring.

So the old saying still holds, garbage in equals garbage out. The only thing that changed is that now you can produce a lot more of it, a lot faster.

Why taste matters more, not less

As the gap between idea and prototype collapses, taste and perspective become more relevant, not less. When everyone can ship, what separates good work from noise is judgment. What is worth making. What is worth keeping. What is the actual problem.

It has never been easier to create your idea. That is not the same as a good execution of it. AI lowered the floor on "I made a thing", it did not raise the ceiling on "I made a thing that matters".

Some final thoughts

So yes, use the tools, prototype ten things in the time you used to prototype one. Just make sure the thing you are amplifying is worth amplifying.

Otherwise you are just making garbage faster.
